Most of the authors, illustrators, editors and other “people’s books” have their imaginary dream book.

Inspirited by this idea, Barbara Schariot, former-director for 15 years of the International Youth Library of Munich, has challenged 72 illustrators from 30 countries to create a book’s layer, real or invented, that they would like to illustrate.

Between the participants we have the best world illustrators such as Klaus Ensikat, Ivan Gantschev, Dusan Kallay, Kveta Pacovská, John Rowe, Binette Schroeder and the portuguese André Letria, Teresa Lima, Gémeo Luís, Rui Martins and João Vaz de Carvalho. All of them have participated with great enthusiasm in this excellence project.

This exhibition of “inexistent” Books is an invitation to challenge the visitor’s creativity. Upon exploring this immensity of images, we could recognise the style of some artist and, who knows, remember of their “existent” books.
