A competiton, a biennial exhibition

ILUSTRARTE is an oportunity to gather in Barreiro, every two years, children book’s illustrator, original illustration, publishers, colectors and readers from every age.

The great number of participants, the diversity of aestetic languages and the higest quality of this works have made the selection work of this second edition very difficult. Thanks to the grate participation of illustrators from all over the worls (920 candidates from 50 countries), Ilustrarte has, once more, accomplished it’s objectives:

1. Promote the children illustration as a form of art;
2. Create a meeting and discussion point for the best international children illustration;
3. Establishe the city of Barreiro as one of the best european places, by excelence, promoters of this art.

Once more, there were selected 50 illustrators from 15 countries, to an exhibition that took place in Auditório Municipal Augusto Cabrita, from 14th November 2004 to 31th January 2005.
